6.0.7 - 12th May 2025
- 6 New Site Types – We’ve been hearing requests for Farm Stays, Laundromats and Showgrounds having dedicated pin types for quite some time and now the time is finally here! In addition to these three, we looked at which kinds of sites rated highly in our recent polls & surveys and have added a few of the standouts from this research: Arts, History and Culture, Outdoor Recreation Areas and Roofed Accommodation. These new site types are available on all versions of WikiCamps, however, if you’re using a version of WikiCamps older than 6.0.7, you will need to update the app to see the new look pins for these sites.
- Sites, Sorted – We’ve introduced sorting options to Explore in both the Map and List views. You can now modify the display to preference sites based on sites with the highest star ratings, most reviews or see what is popular based on the places everyone is adding to their collections!
- Those Hills Were Beautiful, But… – We’ve improved how several app assets and processes perform when the app is loading, meaning less time with the rolling hills and more time to Explore the rest of these new features!
Please Note: If you’ve downloaded 6.0.7 and still experience long load times, our support team will assist with steps to help you get the best results from this update! Simply email: support@wikicamps.co - Search Improvements – We’ve improved how the app handles site name searches to be more forgiving of special characters, different word order and spelling mistakes. If you’ve ever missed an apostrophe or spelled “accommodation” with one ‘m’ (we’ve all been there) WikiCamps has you covered!
- “Follow Me” is Fixed – We’ve fixed the issue that stopped the follow me feature from becoming disabled after the app was force closed. Now the map can, once again, move as your location moves!
- Other bug fixes – We’ve also made minor tweaks and bug fixes as part of our commitment to deliver ongoing improvements to app performance and user experience.
6.0.6 - 5th March 2025
- Mark it with a “❤️” – We’ve brought back the heart (and more)! Now any sites you have saved in your Collections will display an icon badge that shows which collection they belong to and a larger pin to show they are in a collection. We've also updated the list and site overview so the "Add to Collection" button icon will now also change to match the collection the site is in.
- Trip route improvements – We’ve swapped the trip route colour for a brighter green line, added a dark outline to further increase contrast with satellite maps, and, most importantly, reimplemented the red colour based on progress.
- Remember your map preferences – Your map preference settings (including which trip to show) are now remembered between sessions. Additionally, the frequency of the map repositioning when interacting with site pins has been reduced for smoother browsing.
- Find places you can book with WikiCamps – A new filter has been added to easily identify bookable sites and the bookable status of a site is now visible on the site overview card.
- No pets allowed – The "No dogs allowed" filter option has been moved to the warnings and limitations group so that you can “exclude” sites with this feature when searching.
- Offline improvements – We fixed a bug that sorted some offline reviews and fees to the bottom of the page, below older content that had been edited, testored the ‘view ratings and reviews’ button to the site details page, and improved the consistency of how collected sites display.
- Other minor bug fixes and improvements – We’ve fixed a rare issue with some large trips not loading the full place list due to an unrecognised icon persisting in the trip data from the old app, and improved name recognition in some searches (e.g. Cockle Creek Campground) as well as applying some minor performance tuning and other bug fixes across a the app.
6.0.4 - 11th December 2024
- Go offline without internet – We’ve added even more places where the app will be able to catch when you’ve lost internet and allow you to switch into offline mode.
- “Add to trip” performance improvements – Some users reported it was slow to add places to their trips and sometimes this slowness resulted in duplications or error messages. This update includes performance improvements to make adding places faster.
- Better ‘Recent trips’ options when adding places – We increased the number of displayed trips from 5 to 10 and changed the logic for what trips will show. Now you will see your 10 most recently opened or edited trips in this list.
- Additional checks for previous Android purchases – We’ve added an automated process that will help more users who have previously purchased WikiCamps for Android to access the app without seeing the payment screen.
- Other minor bug fixes and improvements – We’ve tidied up the display of some UI, including the map settings in trip planner and changing the ‘return’ key functionality when adding trip notes, improved error messaging when signing in or signing up, and applied some minor performance tuning across a few areas of the app.
6.0.3 - 3rd December 2024
- Go offline without internet – We’ve fixed the bug that was stalling the app before it could load the menu when the app was in online mode, but the device had no internet. We know that this caused some concerns, but you will now have the option of switching into offline mode when you’re caught off-guard without a connection.
- Text on satellite map – A map styling change in Google maps was hiding the text from our earlier release but we have added the text for places, streets, etc. when viewing the satellite map.
- Hide pins in trip map – Say goodbye to filtering for impossible combinations on the Explore page just to show your route with no pins! You can now switch off pins inside of the Plan map - Head to the map settings in Plan to try it out.
- “Add collection” icon is more familiar – Many users reported finding it difficult to locate the new “Add to collection” button, so we’ve changed it to a more familiar heart icon. You will see the icon filled in when a site has been added to your collections. We know you are still missing the heart icons on the map (we hear you!). We are working on a solution. With so many options available to save a site to, we want to make sure the map does not become too busy, crowded or confusing to look at, while ensuring you can still identify which sites you have saved and, if possible, in which collection! Stay tuned for more updates on this.
- Fuel economy description placement – The placement of these descriptions was causing some confusion. We’ve corrected the field subtitles now, so please check you’ve got the economy and cost in the right places when setting your trip details.
- Moved 4WD access to warnings & limitations filter group – A popular request was to change the behaviour of this filter to exclude rather than include, so we have moved it to the warnings & limitations group.
- Saved filters apply instantly – Saved filters are there to help you explore quickly, so we’ve made some tweaks to allow them to immediately apply and return you to the map when you select on of your saved filter sites.
- Improved loading on some trip planner pages – Some changes on our end to help trips load a little smoother.
- Limited impact of text scaling settings to prevent UI spillover – We’ve made some changed to the base text sizing in the app and modified how much the text can scale to balance the UI better throughout the app. This should help prevent blocking progress that was resulting from interactive elements being pushed off screen.
- Other minor bug fixes and improvements – We’ve tidied up the display of some UI, including the site icons and pins on the map, improved error messaging when signing in or signing up, and applied some minor performance tuning across a few areas of the app.
6.0.1 and 6.0.2 - 21st November 2024
- Minor bug fixes and improvements – We applied changes to the purchase checking for Android users with older purchases of WikiCamps and released some other bug fixes and performance adjustments.
