There is a known issue where for some users having no internet connection can stall the loading of the Explore page before the menu can be opened to change offline settings. Our team are working to make it easier to activate offline mode without internet and we will include this in a release shortly.
Signing Up, Signing In and Activating
The app uses your WikiCamps account to verify your purchase. If you have created a new account or signed into a different account than you used in the old app, it may not recognise your purchase.
Otherwise, you may also need to:
- Ensure you have the latest update from your device app store (version 6.0.2 contains a fix for an infrequent activation error that may be causing the issue on your device).
- Reboot your device.
- If you are using a VPN, try switching this off before opening the app.
- Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
If none of these steps work and you cannot sign into an activated account, please get in touch with our support team and provide your proof of purchase (such as a Google Play store order number, PayPal order number, a tax invoice or other receipt) so that we can assist you with an alternate activation.
- Check you have entered your email address correctly
- Check your spam or junk folder
- If you've used an email alias, try again without the alias
- Check you have entered your email address correctly
- Check whether any spaces have been added at the end of your email (this may occur on some devices when using autofill)
- Check whether the app shows the "a user with the specific credentials could not be found" error
This error means that there is no WikiCamps account associated with this email address. Please try a different email address or sign up for a new account.
Please be aware that the old WikiCamps app did not require users to have an account to view the app. If you previously purchased the app, you may still need to create an account in the new app.
Get in touch with our support team if you need any assistance signing in or signing up.
- Check you entered your email address correctly
- Check whether an error says your display name is already taken by another user, if so, try another display name
- Check whether an error says your display name contains restricted words, if so, try another display name
- Check whether your password meets the requirements
Using the App
Are you using custom text scaling in your device accessibility settings?
Our team are aware of an issue where text scaling settings can push certain UI elements into unreachable areas. We are working to modify text scaling behaviour in a coming release. If you are experiencing issues with the app UI, reducing text scaling on your device may assist in the meantime.

Many users have reported that your favourites are harder to find in the new app.
If you have not yet found where you can view them all, please note they are now located in your “Liked” collection.
One of the most common feature requests we received was to have more ways of saving sites for marking where you want to go where you’ve been and more. As our goal is always to improve how we can help you plan with WikiCamps, we introduced the collections feature with 5 options for saving sites you see in the new app.
Currently, your favourite site pins will not change shape.
As part of the introduction of collections, we’ve been working on how we can best represent these various collected statuses on the Explore page. With so many options available to save a site to, we want to make sure the map does not become too busy, crowded or confusing to look at, while ensuring you can still identify which sites you have saved and, if possible, in which collection! Stay tuned!
Currently, the route shows in only one colour.
The new WikiCamps app uses a new routing service to draw the lines for your trips on the map much more accurately than before.
Going forward, we will be looking for the best way to keep this improved accuracy without impacting the performance of trip planner routing! We are exploring what changes we can make in a future release to bring the progress colours features back even better than before.
Our article on showing your route while Exploring will help.
Filters have been simplified in the new app.
Over the last two years of feedback on filters in the old app, we learned that the old toggles caused a lot of confusion and many claimed filters were far too hard to use.
If you previously found the old filter approach helpful and would like to provide any further information about how the old filters made your travels easier, you can get in touch with us.
Currently the below features are not available in the new app:
- Weather
- Satellite Finder
- Checklist
- Compass
- Sorting Pin (drop pin)
- As-the-crow-flies distances estimates
If you're missing a feature, you can let us know more about how these tools assisted you on your travels.
