Please note: This article relates to the old WikiCamps app (version 5 and older).
Update to WikiCamps version 6 from your app store.
As of WikiCamps version 5.1.10, the offline content section of WikiCamps has been simplified. Our help centre also has other articles you can refer to if you are looking to learn how to download or use Offline Content or find other general help for using WikiCamps offline.
What has changed to the download process?
As of WikiCamps 5.1.10, the limit on content available for offline downloads has been modified to two years, to improve sync time, download speed and file size when preparing your app for offline use. We gathered extensive community feedback to determine the most useful combination of the amount of information you download and the amount of time it will take to complete. We have also chosen, for now, to download only reviews and fees, while we continue to optimise how thumbnails behave in offline downloads. So, compared to WikiCamps version 4.8 (and earlier), you will get much more content and compared to version 5.0, it will download much faster.
What does the new percentage display mean?
The offline content screen has been made simpler to understand, allowing you to easily see when you’re ready to go offline.
In WikiCamps 5.1.10, you will be able to see the total download progress as an easy-to-read percentage. Each region you have selected for offline will sync from 0% (beginning download) to 100% (offline ready) every time you sync the content, so there’ll be no guessing whether it finished or not.
What about my previously downloaded content?
For those who already have a large amount of content, please be aware this coming change will not take away any content, however the app will still need to verify that content in the initial sync when preparing the download. This may lead to increased wait times before new content begins downloading.
For the optimal experience with the new Offline Content sync process, we recommend you delete all of your currently downloaded offline content and then download it again using the new process.
This will also help to reduce the app’s file size and ensure you can quickly get the most relevant information for your offline travels.
