To the WikiCamps community,
We apologise that data downloading and syncing as part of the WikiCamps app update has let many of our community members down.
While we set out to deliver an updated app that exceeded your expectations, we know the challenges associated with the update have instead caused you significant stress – particularly at a time when many of you are on the road exploring this great country of ours.
On June 27 we were required to undertake a forced update of the WikiCamps app to improve our database and protect your trip data and favourites – that’s all the information you save in the app about your journeys. This update unfortunately coincided with an Apple App Store outage, causing a number of unforeseen issues for our iOS members.
We’d like to reassure you that our team has been working hard to resolve these issues to get you back on the app – and on the road – as soon as we can.
While most of the initial problems have been resolved, we are aware that some issues relating to app download speed and trip information loading are still affecting some users across all platforms.
This is a result of large numbers of people accessing the app at once which has put strain on our servers.
To resolve this, we’ve now quadrupled our server capacity and we’re pleased to see that most of our members are already seeing noticeable differences in the running of the app and viewing of their registered account information (trips & favourites). We’re also hearing positive feedback around the improved app experience once the download is complete.
If you are still having problems more than 24 hours after you’ve updated your app, please contact our Support Team at support@wikicamps.co
We understand this has been an inconvenience for our community but we look forward to providing you all with the positive app experience we had planned.
